Kaninchenschlucht & stiller Strand – Barranco de los Conejos

Barranco de los Conejos
Barranco de los Conejos

Barranco de los Conejos – Barranco de los Conejos – is one of the best-kept secrets on La GraciosaA narrow gorge that opens out towards the east coast and ends in a small sandy cove. Accessible only on foot or by bike. Almost always deserted. And long known as an unofficial nudist spot.

The gorge

The barranco (gorge) winds through eroded volcanic rock that glows in various shades of red and ochre. The vegetation in the gorge is denser than on the open plain – spurge, sea lavender and the occasional tamarisk. The path is easy to follow but not signposted.

The beach

At the end of the ravine, a small sandy cove opens up right on the east coast. The water is calmer than on the north coast, but not as sheltered from the wind as the south coast. Small waves, fine sand, framed by black lava rocks.
