By Bicycle, Jeep or on Foot – Getting to the Beaches

La Graciosa has no paved roads outside the centre of Caleta del Sebo. All routes to the beaches lead over sand tracks. This is not a disadvantage – it is the essence of this island. And it means: the journey to the beaches is an experience in itself.
The Three Options Compared
Bicycle: the Best Choice
The bicycle is the main form of transport on La Graciosa. Wide sand tracks, hardly any elevation on the southern routes, no engine noise. E-bikes are particularly comfortable – even for longer distances to the north of the island.
Jeep Taxi: Comfortable and Direct
Jeep taxis with drivers are the only way to travel the sand tracks by motor vehicle. No self-drive hire of quads or 4×4 vehicles in the nature reserve. Price: from approx. €10 per person (return).

- On Foot: Original and Inexpensive
Walking is the most original option and often the most beautiful. Playa Francesa: 30–40 min. Playa de la Cocina: 1.5–2 hrs. Playa de las Conchas: 2.5–3.5 hrs. Bring a GPS track – no signage.
Important Notes
In the Archipiélago Chinijo Nature Park, self-drive hire of quads, ATVs and 4×4 vehicles is prohibited. Anyone wishing to travel to the beaches by motor vehicle must book a licensed jeep taxi with driver – no exceptions.
Reserve bicycle the evening before – popular hire shops can be fully booked
E-bike recommended for the north or longer tours
Jeep taxi: always save the WhatsApp number for the return journey
- On foot: load GPS track, bring water for the entire route
- Start early morning – midday heat and sandier tracks
- Summary
- Bicycle: the best option – affordable, flexible, close to nature.
- Jeep taxi: comfortable for more distant beaches or with heavy luggage.
- No self-drive quad hire – nature reserve, no exceptions.
